The Fish - Life Cycle of the Trout

Our fish are reared in the pure waters of the Eastern Cleddau, which has its source in the Preseli mountains. The fast flowing oxygen rich water enables us to produce lean, good coloured, hard fighting fish that leaves your anglers wanting more!

All our fish are certified disease free and come from a proven line of quality, fast growing restocking fish.

Our restocking fish are held at very low stocking densities. This guarantees that our fish have the finest fin quality in West Wales! We hand select only the best fish for you and have a wide variety of sizes to suit your needs.

All of our fish, both brown and rainbow are sterile, which means they don’t mature in the winter and they maintain their fresh appearance and don’t lose their condition.

Rainbow Trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss)

The Rainbow Trout is native to North America and was brought over to the United Kingdom in the late 19th Century. It is characterised by the red-pink band across its side, and the spots on its tail fin.

It is an extremely hard fighting fish and can leap 3 or 4 times its own body length into the air. It is ideally suited to still water fisheries.

Brown Trout (Salmo trutta)

The Brown Trout is native to most rivers in the United Kingdom. It is characterised by the brown-yellow colour along its flanks and is a favoured fish among river anglers. They are slower growing than the Rainbow Trout, but are just as hard a fighting fish.
